Be a Part of History
Buy a commemorative brick and be forever linked to historic Whitney Field.
We would like to offer you an opportunity to create a personal legacy that will forever be part of the rich history of polo and Whitney Polo Field.
As you may know, Alan Corey spearheaded the construction of a viewing pavilion on Aiken’s Historic Whitney Polo Field where polo has been played for 134 years. In fact the Whitney Polo Field was one of the first fields polo was ever played on in America and the only polo field that polo has been played on continuously for those 134 years. Alan said that he wanted to build the pavilion not only to aid the preservation of polo history but also to ensure that polo would endure in Aiken for generations to come.
Alan died suddenly on April 3rd 2105 before he could fulfill the other part of his dream, the completion of a campaign to construct a memento brick floor at the pavilion. His vision was to create a legacy for polo as well as an endowment for a youth program to perpetuate the game. We are now bringing Alan’s vision to completion. We are showcasing polo players by grouping them together in a special area and we are hoping to have 100% of all players who have ever played on the Whitney Field as well. Commemorative bricks will be installed in the fall of 2016, with more added in the coming months and years.
We thank you and hope you will consider purchasing a brick as your personal tribute, which will become a permanent part of Aiken Polo Club. By joining us in this worthwhile endeavor, you will not only contribute to the preservation of the history of polo but also help establish its future with the funding of a youth program.
